The 8" x 2" 600 Grit Diamond Hard Flat Grinding Wheel combines an extra-wide 2-inch grinding face with a heavy-duty seamless solid steel core and precision electroplated micro-diamond plating. Engineered for ultra-fine surface smoothing, facet truing, and micro-scratch removal on gemstones, rocks, glass, ceramics, and porcelain. Provides true concentric rotation and vibration-free grinding on standard 8" cabbing machines.

Key Features

  • Solid Seamless Steel Core: Heavy-duty steel body ensures true-running concentricity, prevents chatter, and eliminates wheel vibration under load.
  • Extra-Wide 2-Inch Face: Provides 33% more surface area than 1.5" wheels, accommodating larger workpieces and extending wheel life.
  • Precision 600-Grit Diamond Rim: Uniform micro-diamond layer delivers delicate pre-polish smoothing and eliminates microscopic scratches without subsurface damage.
  • Universal 1" Arbor: Standard 1-inch inner bore fits standard 8" lapidary cabbing machines (compatible with 3/4", 5/8", and 1/2" reducer bushings).

Applications

  • Lapidary & Gemstones: Final pre-polish smoothing and facet truing on agate, jasper, quartz, jade, and petrified wood cabochons and slabs.
  • Glass Cold Working: Precision edge smoothing, micro-bevel refinement, and satin finishing on architectural art glass and thick crystal slabs.
  • Ceramic & Porcelain: Delicate surface finishing, micro-profiling, and pre-polish prep on technical ceramics and mineral specimens.

Technical Specifications

  • Diameter: 8 inches (200 mm)
  • Width: 2 inches (50 mm)
  • Grit: 600 Grit (Fine Pre-Polishing / Surface Truing)
  • Bond Type: Electroplated Diamond
  • Core Material: Solid Steel
  • Arbor Size: 1 inch (compatible with reducer bushings)
  • Recommended Operating Speed: 1400–1800 RPM

Operating Guidelines

  • Continuous Water Coolant Required: Always operate with adequate water flow to flush grinding swarf and keep diamond particles cool.
  • Apply light, consistent workpiece pressure across the wheel face to prevent localized grooving.
