The 18" Flexible Diamond Sanding Disc is precision-engineered for aggressive grinding, smooth pre-polishing, and fine finishing across hard materials including glass, ceramics, porcelain, composites, natural stone, and lapidary minerals. Combining high-grade industrial diamond abrasives with a conformable flexible backing, this heavy-duty 18-inch sanding disc adapts seamlessly to flat, curved, and contoured surfaces without gouging, chipping, or loss of cutting speed.
Key Features
- Substantial 18" Working Diameter: Provides an expansive surface area engineered for high-volume commercial glass studios, architectural glass panels, massive platters, and oversized stone slabs.
- Conformable Flexible Backing: Flexes smoothly over curved contours, domed surfaces, and large sculptural workpieces while maintaining uniform abrasive contact.
- Premium Electroplated Diamond: High-density industrial diamond particles ensure fast stock removal, minimal frictional heat, and extended abrasive life.
- Multiple Backing Options: Available with Magnetic Backing Plate or Hook and Loop (Velcro) backing for swift, secure attachment to standard 18" backing master laps.
- Wide Progressive Grit Selection: Comprehensive range from coarse 60 grit for rapid material leveling down to ultra-fine 1800 grit for scratch-free pre-polish luster.
- Wet or Dry Versatility: Optimized for wet grinding to suppress dust and maximize disc longevity; also suitable for light dry detailing.
Applications
- Glass & Architectural Fabrication: Beveling, seam blending, edge radiusing, and cold-worked art glass leveling on large fused glass installations and architectural panels.
- Lapidary & Mineral Polishing: Contoured grinding and smoothing of oversized agate slabs, jasper slabs, petrified wood, and massive gemstone specimens.
- Ceramic & Porcelain Fabrication: Edge finishing, planar leveling, and surface prep on large ceramic tiles and porcelain slabs.
- Stone Restoration: Seam blending, chip repair, and edge refinement on granite, marble, and quartz surfaces.

Operating Guidelines
- Use a steady stream of water or mist coolant to keep the workpiece cool, prevent thermal micro-cracking, and wash away swarf.
- Apply light, even working pressure; allow the sharp diamond facets to cut freely without excessive force.
- Clean the disc surface with water after use and dry before storage to maintain magnetic or hook-and-loop adhesion.
