The 8" x 1-1/2" Diamond Plastic Hub Textured Grinding Wheel is an expanded-diameter, high-speed grinding wheel engineered for rapid material removal, cabochon shaping, and glass beveling. Featuring an advanced cross-hatch textured diamond surface bonded to a balanced, lightweight plastic core, this 8-inch wheel provides increased surface feet per minute (SFPM) and enhanced coolant distribution across the contact face, delivering fast, cool-running performance while preventing stone fracturing and wheel loading.
Key Features
- Cross-Hatch Textured Diamond Matrix: Interrupted diamond pattern facilitates continuous slurry drainage and fluid flow, maximizing stock removal and eliminating face glazing.
- Expanded 8" Diameter: Provides higher rim surface speed and greater working area than 6" wheels, speeding up bulk shaping on large gemstone slabs and glass panels.
- Balanced Molded Plastic Hub: Precision-molded plastic body reduces spindle weight and rotational vibration, ensuring quiet, smooth operation and prolonged machine bearing life.
- Premium Electroplated Diamond: High-density industrial monocrystalline diamond particles guarantee aggressive cutting action and extended service longevity.
- Universal 1" Arbor with Bushings: Precision 1-inch arbor hole includes standard reducer bushings to accommodate 3/4", 5/8", and 1/2" shafts.
- Progressive Grit Progression: Available from aggressive 60 grit for fast pre-forming down to 600 grit for smooth, scratch-free pre-polish finishing.
Applications
- Lapidary & Cabbing: High-efficiency pre-forming, girdle shaping, and doming on agate, jasper, quartz, jade, petrified wood, and hard lapidary materials.
- Studio Glass & Cold Working: Grinding punties, edge chamfering, cold glass sculptural shaping, and fused glass panel leveling.
- Ceramic & Porcelain Fabrication: Trimming kiln wash, smoothing stoneware foot rings, and correcting tile edges.
Technical Specifications

Operating Guidelines
- Always operate with adequate water coolant to wash away slurry, keep gemstones cool, and prolong wheel life.
- Use light to moderate contact pressure; allow the aggressive textured diamond pattern to cut freely.
- Periodically dress or rinse the wheel face with water to flush out accumulated rock residue.
