The 8" x 2" 60 Grit Diamond Hard Flat Grinding Wheel combines an extra-wide 2-inch grinding face with a heavy-duty seamless solid steel core and coarse electroplated diamond plating. Designed for heavy stock removal, rapid blank profiling, and aggressive material shaping on extra-hard materials including agate, jasper, jade, petrified wood, thick glass, and technical ceramics. Provides true concentric rotation and vibration-free grinding on standard 8" cabbing machines.
Key Features
- Solid Seamless Steel Core: Heavy-duty steel body delivers true-running concentricity, prevents chatter, and eliminates wheel vibration under load.
- Extra-Wide 2-Inch Face: Provides 33% more surface area than 1.5" wheels, accommodating larger workpieces and extending wheel life.
- Aggressive 60-Grit Diamond Rim: High-density electroplated diamond layer ensures rapid initial roughing and aggressive stock removal without dishing.
- Universal 1" Arbor: Standard 1-inch inner bore fits standard 8" lapidary cabbing machines (compatible with 3/4", 5/8", and 1/2" reducer bushings).
Applications
- Lapidary & Gemstones: Initial rough grinding, bevel pre-shaping, and fast edge profiling of large agate, jasper, quartz, jade, and petrified wood slabs.
- Glass Cold Working: Heavy glass edging, rapid stock reduction, and coarse beveling on architectural art glass and thick crystal blanks.
- Ceramic & Porcelain: Fast rough shaping, edge grinding, and high-volume material removal on industrial ceramics and dense mineral specimens.
Technical Specifications
- Diameter: 8 inches (200 mm)
- Width: 2 inches (50 mm)
- Grit: 60 Grit (Coarse Roughing / Rapid Stock Removal)
- Bond Type: Electroplated Diamond
- Core Material: Solid Steel
- Arbor Size: 1 inch (compatible with reducer bushings)
- Recommended Operating Speed: 1400–1800 RPM
Operating Guidelines
- Continuous Water Coolant Required: Always operate with adequate water flow to flush grinding swarf and keep diamond particles cool.
- Apply light, consistent workpiece pressure across the wheel face to prevent localized grooving.
