The 8" x 2" 1200 Grit Diamond Hard Flat Grinding Wheel combines an extra-wide 2-inch grinding face with a heavy-duty seamless solid steel core and an ultra-fine electroplated diamond rim. Built for precision pre-polishing, facet truing, and micro-scratch elimination on hard materials including gemstones, rocks, glass, ceramics, and porcelain. Provides true concentric rotation and vibration-free grinding on standard 8" cabbing machines.
Key Features
- Solid Seamless Steel Core: Heavy-duty steel body ensures true-running concentricity, prevents chatter, and eliminates wheel vibration under load.
- Extra-Wide 2-Inch Face: Provides 33% more surface area than 1.5" wheels, accommodating larger workpieces and extending wheel life.
- Precision Electroplated Diamond Rim: Uniform 1200-grit micro-diamond plating creates ultra-smooth satin surfaces ready for final polish.
- Universal 1" Arbor: Standard 1-inch inner bore fits standard 8" lapidary cabbing machines (compatible with 3/4", 5/8", and 1/2" reducer bushings).
Applications
- Lapidary & Gemstones: Final pre-polishing and facet truing of agate, jasper, quartz, jade, and petrified wood cabochons and slabs.
- Glass Cold Working: Ultra-fine edge finishing, micro-bevel refinement, and scratch removal on architectural art glass and thick crystal slabs.
- Ceramic & Porcelain: Delicate surface finishing and precision micro-smoothing of technical ceramics and mineral specimens.
Technical Specifications
- Diameter: 8 inches (200 mm)
- Width: 2 inches (50 mm)
- Grit: 1200 Grit (Ultra-Fine Pre-Polishing / Surface Truing)
- Bond Type: Electroplated Diamond
- Core Material: Solid Steel
- Arbor Size: 1 inch (compatible with reducer bushings)
- Recommended Operating Speed: 1400–1800 RPM
Operating Guidelines
- Continuous Water Coolant Required: Always operate with adequate water flow to flush grinding swarf and keep diamond particles cool.
- Apply light, consistent workpiece pressure across the wheel face to prevent localized grooving.
